Three basic Naturally Beautiful Homes building systems developed by our suppliers are:
CLT, closed panel timer frame system and glulam elements.
CROSS LAMINATED TIMBER (CLT)
CLT stands out for its strength, sustainability, appearance and versatility.
The material consists of lamellas of sawn, glued, and layered wood, whit each layer oriented perpendicular to the previous. By joining layers of wood at perpendicular angles, structural rigidity for the panel is obtained in both directions. In this way, the panel has great tensile and compressive strength.
The panels can function as walls, floors, ceilings, roofs and furniture. CLT's thickness and length can be adaptable to the demands of each project. Generally, panels made of CLT are assembled and cut in their production, already foreseeing the joints, openings, and drills specified in the design.
CLOSED PANEL INSULATED TIMBER FRAME
The closed panel system get delivered as a package of insulated elements, with joinery already installed in the panels. They are loaded onto lorries in the order they will be needed on site. The system includes the loadbearing wall elements, the roof trusses, floor structures, internal studwork, conduits and back boxes. They are simply fitted within the panels convenient service void, making it easier for plumbers and electricians to carry out their first fixes. This saves on costly labour time on site, reduces the amount of waste to be removed from site and enables a building to be made weather tight quickly.
The panel designs vary – they can get fit with external finishes of your choice and depending on specification, can be tailored to suit your requirements, budget and desirable U-values.
GLULAM
Glulam (glued laminated beams) is the natural alternative to steel or concrete. It is a natural structural material that is economical, strong, and attractive looking. Glulam is made by gluing together, under pressure and heat, laminates of timber that have been accurately planed. The resulting product is strong, stable, and corrosion proof with significant advantages over structural steel and concrete. It has been widely used in residential and commercial buildings due to its attractive look, versatility, durability, fire resistance and competitive pricing.
